I know i'm going to forget to write "08"
So, a new year, and with it, the cheesy illusions of revelations called "New Years Resolutions."
I began thinking about that the other day, as of course, I was swearing to myself that I wouldn't do the whole resolution thing. I never bought into the idea - I figure if you want to enact change in your life, why does one feel compelled to wait for January 1st to get off your ass and do it? Just enact change in your life, and stop trying to inject unnecessary ritual into it!
However, as I was internally berating the throngs of fools who follow this pointless rite (and let's face it, most of us never uphold any of our resolutions anyway), a part of my brain was saying stuff like, "You need to lose weight, you need to cut pop out of your diet, you need to exercise more, you need to work on those projects you've been telling yourself you'll finish someday."
... and I realized I was making New Year's Resolutions. Ugh.
But seriously. I intend to do all of that stuff, whether it's a New Year's Resolution or not. It's come time that I enact some change in the way I do things.
The holidays were actually pretty nice for me. There was some family-related drama, but other than that, it was all around pleasant. I got some time to spend with the family, time to spend with the friends, and time to spend just relaxing. I really don't know what else to say on the subject without boring you all with the details of daily family life and quiet time spent eating green bean casserole, and that just doesn't make very good writing. So I'll simply say, "Happy New Year, Everyone" and leave it at that.
