SSDD part 2
SSDD - phrase, "Same [stuff], Different Day"
Welcome to SSDD volume two, where I spend a lot of your time on the intertubes telling you there's nothing worth reading in this post... and then I still end up typing for 5 paragraphs telling you about it. So, without further adu, here we go.
First off, the 40k Fight Club has begun to kick off. It's a project that's been going for a while, originating where I used to LARP at Michigan State, Fortress Games and Comics. Since then, 8 other chapters of it have spawned to get mature adult people together to share their hobby and get gentlemen's (or lady's) games in without some hyperactive Ridolin dispenser with 1-color models telling you you're dumb and he's going to own you so bad and ahahahahahahahah oh my god this is going to be great he's going to destroy you hehehehahaha (while you're clearing his models off the table). All in all, the Fight Club has gotten me enthusiastic about playing and painting again. I posted a lot of the pictures I had posted here on my blog up on the Fight Club site, and they've been well received. The comments I've gotten back have mirrored my intent with my Necrons all along - to add personality to a normally dull, uniform looking army.
Aberrant has been a whirlwind of fun, laughs, tears, and angst, but not from an out-of-game standpoint. The roleplay is top notch, and the story is amazing. I can honestly say, thus far, it's the best game I've ever been in. Last Saturday's game had us in a pitched battle with a true aberrant, not even a Nova anymore, and the repercussions of the fight were amazingly played out on all parts. For those of you in my group who read this blog, kudos, again, to you, and a nice big power-maxed kudos to Jason for running the game.
On a more somber front, I've been laid off. Hank's away, and two of our contingency plans for money to cover the gap apparently can't happen until much later, so we're kinda shutting down the office. I have to file for unemployment today. Luckily, we have a bit of money to cover until Hank gets back, so we won't be destitute. I will, however, have to make some decisions about what I can and can't do for leisure activities, which means less driving to Ferndale and Livonia with $3.35 gas, and more staying at home painting my 40k models and playing Warcraft. So, ahead of time, I want to apologize to all my friends who live more than a half hour away - It's not personal, but I can't see you a whole lot for the next few months.
Amber has gotten me addicted to Good Eats, on Food Network. The show is hosted by Alton Brown, who is quickly becoming one of my favorite people in the whole world. His show is equal parts cooking show and Mr. Wizard - he talks a lot about the WHY as well as the HOW of cooking. "Don't boil your cabbage longer than 15 minutes, because..." and then he pulls out a scale model of what a cabbage leaf looks like, and tells you the science behind what happens after a certain point in the cooking process. It's fascinating, fun, and you end up learning a HELL of a lot about cooking you never knew before, and I'm all about the educational programming. Alton has a great sense of humor, and uses little skits and fun, casual dialogue to keep ordinarily dry topics light and fluffy and flavorful.

And that's about it. There's been some other drama here and there... my life has been more eventful than I'll write here, but it's not something that needs to be spread around the internet for the general public to read over. Suffice to say, everything is fine now.
